3 Things You Should Do When an Employer catfishes you

Catfishing does not only happen in love or money but also in employment. After you get the job, you will end up with a role different from what you are expecting. The scenario could be new to your attention, but as early as now, take time to learn about what you need to do.
What to do when you encounter catfishing on your employment?

Below are the three things you should do in case you encounter catfishing from an employer.

1. Give the job a second chance

Why not calm down first and give the job a second chance? There could be some job descriptions that you might not know that you can give a try. Review the list of skills that the job requires and assess yourself if you can adapt to the changes. Keep in mind that every job has new learnings in store and can be your chance toward the right career path. So before choosing to leave the company, try to stay for at least a few months to know if it is worth it.

2. Speak about your expectations

After trying and realizing that everything you are doing is wrong or does not seem right, it is the right time to take action. It is time to speak to your manager and honestly let them know your feedback about the job. If you think that there are suggestions or recommendations you want to share, let it be. You can inform them about your expectations from the past or from the time you had an interview concerning the job they offered. Let them know how important the skills are that you can offer.

3. Take necessary actions that you think are right for you
Assessing whether you are enjoying the job or not could be conducive to taking necessary actions. Maybe it is the right time for you to leave the job and find another one. If giving a second chance or speaking to the manager about your expectations did not work, it is time to do what is right.

Perfect jobs do not exist, so as employers. To avoid the circumstances of catfishing, read the job posting or descriptions carefully. Make sure that it has the information you need to make a decision. Always remember that as a job seeker, there are companies that could not tell everything. In this case, be ready for what you might know and see if you can adapt to it. If you think you can do it, there is nothing wrong with trying. On the other hand, you might realize that it could be a humble beginning for you to pursue a new career path. Better take the opportunity.
