Top 7 Most Common Second Interview Questions (and How to Answer Them)

The second interview is the much-awaited moment for a job seeker because they are getting nearer to the job offer. And before the qualified candidate can receive the job offer, he or she must know how to answer the top seven-second interview questions.
1. What are your goals for your career?

The question is tricky because it asks for your future goals. The equivalent question for this is, "how do you see yourself five years from now?". You have to be careful in answering the question. For example, you have to directly respond to them on your plans to be promoted within the company and soon become the director or manager. Your answers can be powerful enough to be noticeable and shortlisted for a final interview or job offer.

2. Why did you want to fulfill the position?

Aside from the salary and benefits, there are other reasons that you must tell the interviewer why you want to fulfill the position. Never say that it is because of the salary and benefits. Let them feel that you are more willing to assume the role because you are excited about what the company does and contribute to them.

3. Why do you think we need to hire you?

Make sure that you are prepared to answer the question. State the strengths that you possess and why they need to hire you for that. Let them know that you are the perfect candidate for the position. You can also discuss what you can contribute individually and to the company.

4. What does an ideal work environment looks like to you?

Are you organized and can work with a team? Can you work alone or not? Are you able to control any problems with minimum supervision? Be careful with this question; make sure that you positively answer them regarding the work environment culture.

5. What can you accomplish within the first month in the company?

Accomplishing tasks in the first month could be difficult to answer in the interview. However, there is no need to worry because employers would understand if you have not known their procedures yet. The thing is, the interviewer wanted to see how you creatively plan your first month in the company and what accomplishments you can make.

6. What are the challenges you lack in your previous job?

The question means, why are you leaving your current job? To answer this carefully, do not mention any negative comments that you encountered from the company. Instead, let the new company know that you have plans, and that is by being with them.

7. Anything that you want to revisit from your first interview?

The interviewer wants to clarify if there is anything that you can remember from the last interview. They want to test your ability to communicate and remember things from the latest discussion you had. Meaning, do not spend too much time pondering your previous meeting with them.

Above are the seven most common second interview questions and tips on how to answer them. Bear in mind that the first, second, and last interviews are very important. Make sure that you are prepared for the questions and answers sufficient to secure the new job.
