How to get a job with zero experience

They say that real-life lessons are in the field and not in the classroom. After graduation, we are all excited to have our first job, earn money, and buy the things that we want. However, before we go far on buying and shopping, we still have to go back to the basics – getting our first job.
But reality check, most of the job vacancies today require to have at least two years of experience. And you need a job to get experience, but you need the experience to get a job, sounds confusing right? This is what we call, the catch-22. This is the common dilemma of students and newly graduates today, but this is where you should pull yourself together and start doing the following tips to get your first job with zero experience.

1.Familiarize yourself with the market that you like to pursue

Start your research now, various companies offer entry-level jobs and positions for recent graduates. Well-known companies, like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and Apple prefer students or recent graduates because they like the enthusiasm and energy of youngsters, along with their fresh ideas and creativity. You can also check for the hidden job market and top job boards online. If you can’t find one, you can ask your friends and relatives and help you prepare.

2.Engage in activities related to your interests

Another way to gain experience in a particular field is to work for little to no pay – it does not seem especially appealing, but it can open a lot of doors: you may volunteer, apprentice, or freelance to gain hands-on experience and skills, including interpersonal coordination, customer service, administrative support, and events management if you are into fundraising activities. Starting or posting to a blog, depending on the profession, maybe a good way to showcase your passion and talent. And in a nutshell, fill yourself up.

3.Expand your network

With the rise of technology and social media utilization, LinkedIn is not just a social networking platform. It becomes one of the biggest job boards with approximately 98 percent of LinkedIn recruiters who find ideal talents. It's popular with both employers and workers, and that's what makes it a vibrant environment where these two cultures continue to connect. Having more than 756 million LinkedIn  users, are you already waiting to reach out to recruiting managers? What do you do through an online profile to get your dream job? So, start sending invites and expand your online network to know more about the job market.

4.Practice on our interview

Let’s say that you have been invited for an interview, make sure that you have a compelling career-starting tale that proves you are qualified for a wide range of positions in your targeted market. People will ask you questions (and there will be a lot of them), so prepare straightforward and succinct responses to why you want to work in this industry, what you plan to do to get there, and what you have to give. This is where you can show off your enthusiasm and throw a party.

5.Prepare your career tools

You cannot enter the battlefield without the proper gear, preparation is the key. Write a resume that is interesting and compelling to market you to your future employers. Create a summary statement that states how you can contribute to the firm’s growth through your soft and hard skills. For recent graduates and entry-level job seekers like you, you have to put your education at the top, covering your school(s), the degree(s) you earned, and your achievements and leadership roles, demonstrating your academic achievements and extracurricular activities.

Your skills part, in addition to your qualifications and related knowledge, should be given as much importance as possible. As with the previous segment, make the most of this one by including some of the skills mentioned on the work offer.

However, if you want your application to stand out and attract employers' interest, you'll need to go above and beyond. This is where our expert resume writers can assist you. If you need assistance, contact us now!
