In creating a resume, it essential to use proper colors and  graphics to catch the attention of the hiring managers. As part of your goal to showcase your skills, abilities, and experiences, you should consider the design that would help reach every prospective employer.

The use of colors in a resume is to highlight sections. To ensure that the hiring managers would look at each section on your resume, you need to choose a color that would hook them up in reading.

When to Use Colors in a Resume?

The standard colors to use in a resume are gray, black, white, and blue. You may also use other light colors that would still look professional. For instance, you need to submit a resume to a nonprofit organization. Make sure to use a color that would not make your resume look odd in the reader's eyes. Gray and black colors are preferred while preparing resumes for Not-for-profits

Is it safe to choose the standard colors?

Yes, it is safer to choose standard colors because it would make the resume looks clean and neat. However, your resume may not create a good impression on the reader.

When to use graphics or design?

The use of graphics or design in a resume is usually for jobs such as graphic artist/designer, creative director, producer, and website developer. Consider using graphics and keeping your resume to one page to ensure that you catch the reader's attention at first glance.

Furthermore, if it seems that there is not much on your resume, maximize the whole page with your details, add a color that suits you, or choose a design that corresponds to the job target. As a graphic designer, select a magazine design type of resume and make sure you include your relevant skills, technical knowledge, and professional experiences

Why Use Black and White?

Applicant tracking system (ATS) worries applicants because of the tight competition  in the job market. For this reason, you must ensure to create a resume that is compatible with ATS. The use of black and white color will be helpful because the system does not recognize other colors.

Aside from the ATS, if you have a little knowledge of designing, black and white is still best for you. As said above, it is safer to use these colors to better represent your resume with your qualifications.

To successfully submit your resume and receive invitations from prospective employers, do not hesitate to use colors or graphics.. You may speak to a professional resume writer if you need professional advice about how you can showcase your skills and win interviews through your resume.

Whether your favorite color is blue, black, or gray, the essential thing to remember is the content of your resume. Never forget to include accurate details such as your contact information, expertise section, profile, and experiences for the reader to understand your qualifications that match the job.
